What each of the four Spotify numbers counts
Two of these numbers belong to the artist page and two belong to the music on it. Spotify monthly listeners is the line in the artist header, counting people rather than listens across a window of the last 28 days. Spotify followers is the standing total under the same name, the list that gets told when something new comes out.
Spotify plays is the figure printed beside one recording, and Spotify's support material for artists puts the bar for a play at 30 seconds of listening. Spotify saves counts taps on the plus button, each one filing the release in somebody's own library.
A header can run well ahead of the tracks beneath it, and a track can hold a heavy play count with almost no saves. Our guide on what plays and saves each measure takes the track pair apart.
The address you paste decides what an order can move
The four do not all take the same kind of Spotify link, so it is worth checking which address a step wants before you paste one. Monthly listeners works against an artist page alone, because the figure exists nowhere else. Plays need one recording, the link ending in a track ID. Followers and saves take anything with a share menu behind it: an artist page, a playlist, an album or a track.
The address also settles what can be divided. A plays step spreads across as many as 100 tracks, with 1,000 the least any one may take, so a whole EP goes under one order. A saves step spreads the same way, down to 100 per link. Monthly listeners and followers do not divide: one quantity, one address, and a second profile is a second item in the cart.
One counter recedes by design, the other three stand
Monthly listeners is the only one of the four built on a clock. Spotify rebuilds the reading from the last 28 days, so it slides back on its own while nothing has gone wrong, and a step is worth taking when something is pointed at the profile: a submission going out, a promoter opening the page. Followers, plays and saves accumulate instead and stay where the run leaves them.
That changes what our refill means here. Where a Spotify count falls back within 30 days of delivery, quote the order ID and the shortfall goes on again at no charge.
Spotify publishes its own position on paid services that promise streams, in the help centre it runs for artists. We make no claim that a count we deliver stays out of Spotify's reach.
Which of the four to order first, read off your own page
Order against the numbers you already show rather than against an artist you admire. Buying the dearest counter first can leave a header in five figures sitting over tracks that still read in the hundreds, so it is worth moving the four along together.
On a first release the small end of followers fits, so the name has something under it, with plays on the single so the track does not read as untouched. A catalogue already gathering streams tends to want the reverse: monthly listeners for the header a curator meets first, then saves on the track being worked, since a save records that the song was kept rather than heard.
The ladders are cut for both ends. Followers and saves open at 100 and run to 200,000, plays open at 1,000 and reach the same ceiling, and monthly listeners opens at 1,000 and stops at 25,000, the shortest ladder and the highest rate per thousand.
How a Spotify order is placed and what comes back
Pick a step, paste the address, pay. The checker opens the Spotify link and shows the release or the artist page back, which catches a step aimed at a remix or at another act of the same name. It reads only what is public, so it will not tell you a track has been taken down, and where nothing comes back the address you typed goes through as it stands.
Checkout settles by card or in cryptocurrency. The total is fixed first, in US dollars, Canadian or Australian dollars or pounds, and the coin comes a screen later, with the confirmation on the chain opening the run against your Spotify address. What is the difference between Spotify plays and streams?
One count under two names. The figure beside a track in a release listing is what the industry calls streams, and Spotify's support material for artists says one is counted when the song is played for at least 30 seconds. An order of plays moves that figure on the recording you send.
Which Spotify number is worth ordering first for a new artist?
Followers and plays are the pair that makes sense on a first release: the follower line gives a visitor something to read under the name, and a play count keeps the single from looking untouched. Monthly listeners costs the most per thousand and slides back on its own, so it repays waiting until a pitch points at the profile.
Can plays, followers and saves go on one order?
Yes. Each product is its own item with its own step and its own address, and several sit in one cart under a single order ID. The order page lists each line with a badge of its own, so a delivered saves item and a plays item still processing are visible apart.
Why do monthly listeners cost more per thousand than followers?
Each counter is priced on its own ladder, and the artist header reading is the dearest of the four. Followers and saves share the lowest rate per thousand, plays sit above them, and monthly listeners is several times either. Every rate improves as the step grows.
Can any of this be ordered for a Spotify podcast?
No. These four are the music side counters, and their fields expect an artist page, a track, an album or a playlist address. A podcast link has nothing here pointed at it.
Four Spotify services, split between the artist and the track
Spotify is the one place where getting the link right matters most, because an artist page and a song are two completely different addresses, and half our services attach to one and half to the other. Paste the wrong one and the step tells you which to open instead.
No password access
Every service works from a public link or a public username, so there is never a reason to hand over your password. Nothing we run has anywhere to put one.
Artist link or track link, and we say which
Monthly listeners and followers attach to the artist page. Plays and saves attach to a single track. Paste an artist link where a track is needed and you get a message naming the fix, not a bare rejection. Links with an /intl-de/ style prefix are read the same as any other.
The target is looked up and shown back
We resolve the link against Spotify's public catalogue and read the title, the artist and the cover back to you before you pay. If the entity does not resolve, the order does not start.
Plays start at a thousand
The smallest play package is 1,000, not fifty. A track's play count sits in public next to its neighbours, and a number too small to be believable is worse for the release than no number at all.
