Beijing (Near an edge of things)
I have been to China over twenty times now. And most of the times it was to Beijing. The Northern Capital is one of my favorite cities on earth. It is huge, but it has amazing neighborhoods, parks, and a real diversity of places and people. It has very intimate corners, where it is possible to run into the same people even after many years. And some of the food here is really wonderful. I have so many good friends here. It is really a good place to come back to. Beijing has taught me so much. I am very thankful to the city. My long term global project is slowly coming to an end. And this might be a last visit to Beijing in quite some time. I know that when I will return, parts of the city will have completely transformed. And some will hopefully have remained exactly the same. The same they might have been for hundreds of years.
The picture was taken after a client presentation. The shades were drawn, as we had just presented a rough cut of a film we had shot in Chengdu and Beijing. There was this lonely pigeon. Almost meditating about what to do next. Looking at the changing Beijing. Looking in the direction of the airport actually. I will be leaving Beijing tomorrow. Let’s see what happens next.
